Joplin: a handmade mohair teddy bear

Joplin is made to a newer pattern of mine and I absolutely adore the shape and line of this bear. His mohair has been hand-dyed by me so he is truly unique. I would call this shade almond blush - subtly nutty with a rosy hue. The nature of hand-dyed mohair is really lovely as there is a lot of nuance to colour, and I have enhanced this with a little shading inside the ears and around the eyes.

As usual with my bears, the mohair is high quality German mohair, in this case from the Steiff-Schulte factory.

Joplin's head is firmly stuffed with traditional wood-wool, but his body and limbs are filled with wool fibre, giving him a lovely cuddle-factor. His paws are german wool-felt, his eyes are black english glass, and nose and claws are stitched with lightly waxed perle cotton.

Joplin is weighted with recycled steel granules to the 'ankles' and tummy. This allows him to sit very well.

This bear weighs 480g and is 35cms tall.

Joplin will arrive with a provenance tag to identify him as made by Jenny Gale of Winter's Den.
