Koda: a handmade mohair teddy bear

Koda is an characterful teddy bear, with a curious and expressive face. This little fellow has been handmade in my Sussex workshop with care and attention to detail. He is sewn from a lovely sparse mohair by Steiff-Schulte in a vintage gold shade. This is a five-way jointed bear with traditional cotter pin joints.

Koda's head is firmly stuffed with traditional woodwool and wood shavings - the firmness has a lovely feel in your hand. Limbs are stuffed with woodwool, for an authentic aesthetic, but this beautiful bear has a softly stuffed tummy using polyfibre for a good cuddly finish - slightly understuffed for that adorable 'slump'. I have added stainless steel shot to the feet and tummy to provide a satisfying weight and easy seating posture.

Koda has dark amber english glass eyes, and a nose, muzzle and claws stitched in black cotton perle. His nose is lightly waxed and I have tinted the muzzle and behind the eyes for a soft and appealing look.

The paw pads are made from faux suede, but treated to give the appearance of old leather.

Koda weighs 365g and is 25cms tall.

Koda will arrive with a provenance tag to identify him as made by Jenny Gale of Winter's Den.
